History

The Piano Accordion has been active in Burton on Trent for approaching 90 years.

The members of the Burton Accordion Society are as passionate about their chosen instrument as were the enthusiasts who established the West Burton Piano Accordion School in the early 1930s.

Over the years very many prestigious championship trophies have been won by Burton’s Accordionists in both local and national competitions. More recently, some members of the society have certainly not lost their appetite for the fierce world of competitive music with titles won at both national and local levels. We have members who compete in local and regional music festivals both accordion specific and also open to all instruments and have even competed in the world famous Llangollen Musical Eisteddfod. We are always looking for ways to introduce our music to new audiences.

Today a more relaxed approach to music making allows the society to focus on giving concert performances throughout the region.

Burton Accordion Society

We are based in Burton upon Trent (Staffordshire, UK) and include an orchestra and a smaller six piece ensemble.

As performing groups we are available to entertain at local (or not so local) events, for either private or public performances.

We have played in such venues as village halls, churches, church halls and nursing homes.

Burton Accordion Orchestra

Burton Accordion Orchestra is multi piece orchestra and is part of Burton Accordion Society. Both the orchestra and the group use the modern multi register accordion to its full advantage to play orchestral arrangements of a wide variety of easy listening music to suit all tastes. Our repertoir includes music ranging from accordion specific compositions, through arrangements of classical pieces, selections from musicals, to renditions of more modern popular music.

Burton Accordion Group

Burton Accordion Group is a multi award winning six piece offshoot from the Burton Accordion Orchestra. As with the main orchestra we are available for public and private performances. As a smaller ensemble we are ideal for smaller locations, but can equally perform at larger events.
